It is important that the application of a technological system or instrument is experienced as valuable, supportive, or relieving by its (intended) users. Users of technology can refer to professionals in care, people with a disability, people with a chronic condition or illness, or people surrounding patients or clients.
An important theme to this programme of research is Gerontechnology, building on a long-term collaboration with the professors working in the research programmes 'Integrated care for the elderly' and 'Transitions in Care', and the targeted elderly people themselves. International collaboration is established through the International Society of Gerontechnology.
