The Energy Starters Track: Lateral Entry into the Technical Sector Contributes to the Energy Transition

Roger Reichrath tells us about the Energy Starters track which recently welcomed a new cohort. He is a course director at the School of Engineering & Applied Science. The energy transition requires far more technical talent than is currently available. At the same time, there are people who want to work in engineering but lack the necessary knowledge. The Energy Starters Track has been designed to address this issue. Run by the School of Engineering & Applied Science (EAS) and De Nieuwe Ingenieurs, the track helps new entrants quickly progress towards a career in the sector. A new cohort of participants began in spring.

Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences takes a step forward in its development as a knowledge institution

On Wednesday, 11 February, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences took an important step towards strengthening its societal role as a knowledge institution in the region. The Central Representative Board has agreed to further integrate teaching and research activities across five knowledge domains. We will now start working on the finer details of these knowledge domains with our colleagues and students. Our goal is to establish a strengthened and streamlined organisational structure by January 2027.

Mission: Transition - Innovation beyond growth

How to innovate when growth is not your goal? That question was central to this year's final Mission: Transition event at Studio 8 in Rotterdam. Felix van Hoften (Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and Amsterdam University) and Rob van der Rijt (Breda University of Applied Sciences) discussed this topic with seventy students, lecturers and researchers.
