Elin Koppelaar is Project Leader of the projects Fighting Loneliness and Young and Old Together Gold. Elin completed a Master of Science in Human Movement Sciences at the VU University in Amsterdam. In 2003, she obtained her Master of Science degree with a major in Ergonomics. In 2013, she completed her PhD research, called ‘Use and effect of ergonomic devices in healthcare'. Elin has worked as a Scientific Researcher at the Department of Rheumatology and the Department of Public Health of the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam.

Since 2011 Elin Koppelaar has been working as a senior researcher at Research Centre Innovations in Care at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. She is part of the research programme Integrated Care of Research Centre Innovations in Care. In addition, she is the Secretary of the Board Assessment Ph.D. Vouchers at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and Editor of Rotterdam University Press.
