Hanneke Torij is a (not practising) midwife. She obtained her Master of Science Midwifery at Glasgow Caledonian University. In 2006, she was the founder of the Information and Research Centre of the Midwifery Academy Rotterdam. She was projectleader of the Rotterdam Ready for a Child programme's 'pregnancy' phase and also she was projectleader of a project concerning early pregnancy care in collaboration with the University of East London. Since 2013, she is project leader of the Regional Consortium Pregnancy & Childbirth Southwest Netherlands. Her PhD research foccusses on vulnerable pregnancies and on developments in the profession of clinical midwifery.
