Another important part in the process of moving-in is buying furniture, decorations and necessities in general. General stores such as IKEA, HEMA, HAY or CASA are a good option to find those articles of good quality for a reasonable price. HEMA, HAY and CASA stores can be found all around the centre of Rotterdam and two IKEA stores (Barendrecht and Delft) are located outside the city. It is recommended to use a car (if possible) to get to those IKEA locations since public transport does take a certain amount of time to reach the destination (around 30-45min).
Again, websites such as Marktplaats and Facebook Marketplace are also good options for finding second-hand furniture for a cheaper price. Social media groups are also a fine alternative, where you will find loads of ads from students and people already living in Rotterdam and looking to get rid of their personal items.
