Welcome to the webpage of iGEM Rotterdam 2019. First of all we would like to introduce ourselves. We are the iGEM RUAS team 2019 which consists of multiple disciplines such as Biology and Medical Laboratory research (BML), Industrial Product Design (IPO), Chemical Engineering (CTE), Sports Marketing and Management (SMM) and International Business Management (IBM).
So you may wonder, what is ‘iGEM’?
The question ‘What is iGEM?’ is not easy to answer. In fact, iGEM is difficult to define because iGEM means so many things to so many people. Let us give you a few examples how iGEM is described by teams all over the world:

This year Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool Rotterdam) team is competing in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) for the second time in a row.
Long story short iGEM is an annual worldwide synthetic biology competition which is held in Boston, USA. Teams come up with creative and innovative solutions to solve real-world challenges covering a diverse range of topic areas: Energy, Diagnostics, Environment, Manufacturing, Therapeutics etc.
