    About the professor

    dr. Marieke Groot

    After specialising in oncology and the Secondary Education in Nursing Specialist, Marieke studied major health sciences at Maastricht University. At the end of 2000 she started her PhD project within the first stimulation programme Palliative Care of the Radboudumc and in 2007 she received her PhD thesis 'Supporting patients and professionals in primary palliative care' at the Radboud University Nijmegen. She was subsequently appointed as a university lecturer at the Expertise Centre for Pain and Palliative Medicine at Radboudumc. As of 2016, Marieke worked as head lecturer at the Master Nursing Specialist (MANP) at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede. Since March 2019, Marieke has been professor 'Person & Family Centred Care' at the Research Centre Innovations in Care at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. She will mainly focus on the field of palliative care.
