Think of procurement and stocking of spare parts, the selection and performance measurement of suppliers, the set-up of a service supply chain, the implementation of service contracts related to maintenance and technical support of assets or the contribution of logistics processes and skills in the (complex) planning of shutdowns, turnarounds and outages of assets.
Logistics plays a certain role in the reliability, availability, maintainability, safety, sustainability and supportability of these assets, especially in high-tech and capital-intensive economic sectors. These sectors are well represented in the Rotterdam port area, including stevedoring, tank storage and the process and power industry, but are recognizable in other economic clusters of the Netherlands as well (medical systems and instruments, truck production, semiconductor industry, water management, aviation, defence industry). Field trips are part of the programme.
Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences is proud member of the Service Logistics Forum, a knowledge network of leading companies, knowledge institutes and governmental bodies. This unique position gives our students and lecturers challenging opportunities to adopt research assignments and business issues, where practical yet innovative solutions are welcomed.
