Programme structure
A view of the study programmeRotterdam Business School's master programmes are built on three pillars:
- An innovation-driven, challenging real-life study environment
- An international collaborative
- A flexible learning environment
The curriculum is structured as an integrated four-block learning journey. Rather than treating strategy, innovation, implementation and research as separate subjects, the programme connects them in one applied pathway.
Students begin by analysing strategic challenges and identifying growth opportunities, then translate these insights into innovative and validated solutions, learn how to prepare these solutions for implementation in real organisational contexts, and finally bring everything together in the Graduation Portfolio.
Research Methods runs across Blocks 1 to 3 and supports each student in developing an individual applied research project with a real company or organisation. In Block 3, students further shape their professional profile through either the Consultancy or Entrepreneurship option, before integrating their learning into a final solution in Block 4.
Below you can see the curriculum overview
A distinctive feature of the programme is the way it connects research, analysis, solution design and implementation throughout the year. Students do not only study business challenges in theory or develop ideas in isolation. Instead, they learn how to diagnose problems with evidence, translate insights into innovative and validated solutions, and prepare these solutions for implementation in real organisational or entrepreneurial contexts. This creates a learning experience in which critical thinking, creativity and action continuously reinforce one another.
Another unique feature of this master is its strong and continuous connection to real-life business practice. Throughout the programme, students work with authentic organisational or entrepreneurial challenges in both group and individual settings. In Research Methods, they carry out an individual applied research project with a real company or organisation, as part of the final Graduation Portfolio. In Knowledge to Action, they work on a real-life project with a partner company. This ensures that the programme remains practical, relevant and closely connected to the professional field from start to finish.
